Citigroup Inc.'s experienced finance executive, Ajay Banga, who shoulders company's Asia-Pacific business, has been hired by MasterCard Inc., the 2nd biggest card network after Visa Inc.
Mr. Banga, 49, is going to join MasterCard Inc. in August this year, as the president and chief operating officer of the company.
The Menlo, California-based "voice-over-internet-protocol" startup Jaxtr has recently been taken over by the rather "telephony-as-a-service platform" Sabse. While the funding for the Mountain View, California-based Sabse remains undisclosed, the capital apparently comes from the company's CEO Yogesh Patel and the Hotmail founder Sabeer Bhatia.

According to the Friday reports from the US Department of Labor, the unemployment rate in California for the month of May soared to a record 11.5 percent - marking the highest-ever jobless rate figures, in terms of "modern" records. Since May 2008 - when the unemployment rate was 6.8 percent - California has lost as many as 885,000 jobs.
