On Sunday, Ford President of the Americans Mark Fields shared that Ford Motor Co. will be unveiling a new small car, which will be a part of its Mercury range, by the time 2011 rolls in. The new offering will be based on the automobiles manufacturer's new global compact car platform.

Ford is currently believed to be on a roll, a hard one. A re-designed Ford Edge for 2011 makes its public debut at the Chicago Auto Show, a somewhat subdued show being held in the middle of a Midwestern blizzard.

Alan Mulally, the chief executive of Ford Motor Co., said in a recent interview from the Las Vegas Consumer Electronics Show (CES) that the automaker is poised for “tremendous progress” in its turnaround endeavor – the company not only posted a 33 percent increase in sales during December, but also improved its share of the US auto market in 2009, for the first time since 1995

Ford Motor's new automobile interface and dashboard design, called "myFord Touch," which is scheduled to be rolled out the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, happens to be one of the most eagerly-awaited products to be unveiled at the event.

Ford Motor Co unveiled the Fiesta small car to a U. S. audience on Wednesday at the Los Angeles Auto Show. This revamp aimed at making profits in 2011. Ford is hoping in the increase of sales as market shifts toward smaller and more efficient vehicles. The company has plans to bring in six compact and subcompact vehicles from Europe by 2012.

Crushed under the current financial situation, more and more companies are now looking to cut costs wherever possible, and so did Ford Motor Co., when it proposed contract changes to its union workers which reflected a definite cut in labor costs.

According to figures reported by a Consumer Reports Survey, which studied vehicle qualities of major automobile manufacturers across the globe, Ford Motor Co., has made the most significant progress in ensuring quality improvement in their vehicles. Chrysler, on the other hand, hit rock bottom as it got the lowest rank among all the manufacturers studied.

Ford Motor Co. said announced on Friday its plan to spend $490 million on building a third assembly plant in China in a move that will help the company in improving its performance in the world's strongest market.

The US automaker will run the new plant with its Chinese partner Chongqing Changan Automobile co. and Japan's Mazda Motor Corp.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution's Saturday reports, grabbing a larger chunk of the US auto market in April has helped Ford push past Toyota to regain its No.
2 position in US vehicle sales market share.

Ford Motor Co. Executive Chairman Bill Ford and Chief Executive Officer Alan Mulally have decided a 30 percent pay cut in their salaries. He salaried workers will sacrifice 
2009 bonuses. The local officers of the United Auto Workers have also approved cuts in overtime and layoffs.
