H. J. Heinz Co reported a 12.6 percent surge in its quarterly sales, triggered by higher marketing spending, strength in emerging markets and new products in the United States.

In addition, the company posted its quarterly profit slightly above the amount it forecast just a week ago in a meeting with analysts.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency and Heinz Canada are warning the public that Heinz Mixed Cereal for babies should not be consumed as the baby food contains a possible carcinogen.

Heinz is recalling several lots of mixed baby cereal because it contains high levels of a toxin produced by fungus called Ochratoxin A.
