Making a surprise appearance at the Web 2.0 Summit in San Francisco on Thursday, Google co-founder Sergey Brin expressed his disappointment at the July-signed Internet search pact between Yahoo and Microsoft, saying that it was rather distressing to see Yahoo decrease its focus on Internet search.

In an addition to its $11 million Series B funding round in May, the DNA-decoding startup 23andMe has now secured another $2.6 million from Google! With the recent contribution from Google, the company has raised $13.6 million, out of the total $24.26 million it intends raising in this round.
