The World Health Organization (WHO) said that it was assessing the importance of public health of a mutation of the pandemic H1N1 virus detected in Norway and some other countries.

The WHO has been informed by the Norwegian Institute of Public Health of a mutation of the H1N1 virus found in two patients who have both died. One of them had severe illness.

Cisco Systems, the world`s major manufacturer of networking equipment has decided to acquire  Tandberg ASA for USD 2.97 billion, with the aim to spread out its lineup of video-conferencing products.

The sources informed that the company will pay 153.50 kroner a share in cash.

Tandberg is the World's largest maker of videoconferencing equipment.

Oslo  - Norwegian cross-country ski star Marit Bjoergen is aiming for at least one medal, a gold, at the world championships in the Czech resort of Liberec.

"A gold is what counts highest for me. One top achievement is more important than four good placings," Bjoergen recently told the Adresseavisen newspaper published in Trondheim where she was born.

Oslo - Norwegian aluminium group Norsk Hydro chief executive Eivind Reiten announced Monday he would step down at the end of March saying he was fulfilling his own time line for his departure.

Svein Richard Brandtzaeg, 51, head of Hydro's aluminium products business, was to succeed Reiten as of March 30.
