The earthquake that shook Haiti on January 12 this year, killing up to 200,000 people, has led to immensely abundant worldwide sympathy from religious organizations. Some of their related groups and chapters in the Orange County are concentrating on collecting sufficient relief supplies to their long-troubled Caribbean country and help them overcome their trauma.
Tons of medical and other supplies from Latter-day Saints storehouses in the Dominican Republic were being transported to Haiti within few hours of the earthquake. Till last Wednesday, over
85,000 pounds of food, blankets, tents and tarps were sent along with a medical team of 14 doctors, nurses and family specialists.
Largely undamaged, seven Latter-day Saint chapels in Haiti, are sheltering almost 4,000 people from the community. Members have been urged to donate generously towards raising funds for the relief work.
The Latter-day Saints Cypress Stake will be hosting the Cypress Pops Orchestra from 2 to 3 p. m. today at 5151 Orange Ave. in Cypress. All collections will proceed towards the Haitian relief.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints awakens every practitioner to his or her natural.
