Today Larry Ellison and Oracle will announce a detailed work plan for the combined Oracle/Sun entity, a partnership that Ellison first extended nine months ago. In that context, it's illuminating to analyze Oracle's transformative intentions for wanting to acquire Sun.
"I see this as a natural evolution of the long-term relationship between Oracle and Sun", said Marriott International CIO and EVP Carl Wilson in a batch of customer comments on Oracle. com.
Oracle's acquisition of Sun bestows Oracle with more superior technologies to compliment their portfolio, cites Hologic Inc. SVP of Information Services and CIO Dave Rudzinsky.
The duo will be able to provide a comprehensive enterprise application platform and solution from end-to-end.
After fetching approval from the European regulatory over the deal all but final, Oracle and Sun is in a process to hold Webcast briefings on Wednesday to figure the direction of the combined companies and their many products.
Oracle and Sun plans to merge in April. However, the uncertainty about Sun's future moves back a little further, to March, when news reflected that Sun was in acquisition talks with IBM.
The great new thing for Sun and Oracle will be the gradual removal of the uncertainty about the future -- starting with Wednesday's briefing, ever since the merger acquisition talks initiated.
