Taking your kid to a dentist is now easy

‘Give kids a smile’ which was held at the Douglas County Health Department Dental Clinic would make taking kids to a dentist an easy job.

To make kids enjoy Ronald McDonald performed magic tricks at the clinic.

6-year-old Lyssa Halterman said, "'I watched him do magic tricks.' When asked if she liked going to a dentist, she said she was scared.

‘Give kids a smile’ gave free dental work to youngsters who may otherwise not have gotten it because kids do not like going to a dentist.

Ronnett Davis, Supervisor of the Douglas County Health Department's Dental Clinic, said, "Dental care is the number one aliment with childhood diseases and a lot of kids just don't have access, parents can't afford it or don't have dental insurance so it's a big need."

Dental supplies used at the even for kids were donated by local dentists, dental supply companies and the Ronald McDonald house.

About 10 dentists and 20 dental assistants were a part of the event and would be in future.

The event entered its second year and those conducting the event hope that it continues in the years to come.
