Around 55 per cent Aussies still prefer people of the opposite sex without any tattoo. This was stated by a survey conducted this year by representatives with UMR Research Ltd. They surveyed 1000 people who were 18 years and more.
A majority of men did not like women with tattoos. There was however a preference of women with tattoos among 43 per cent men who were less than 30 years of age who like tattoos on her back.
Around 62 per cent women who liked men with tattoos preferred it on their arms.
Tracing the relationship between women and tattoos back to 2000 BC Australian Ink magazine editor Vanessa Morgan said Egyptian women had large dotted patterns marked on their bodies with needle-like instruments.
Morgan added that, "Women like to display who they are and where they've come from. We pay so much money for make-up and accessories and, for many tattooed people, pieces of art on the body are just another way of displaying this beauty."
People resist from getting tattoo also as it is not easy to get a tattoo removed easily. Dr Terence Poon, of Neutral Bay Laser and Dermatology Clinic, said, “Ten treatments are required to remove a professional tattoo and a local anesthetic is required each time, as the procedure is quite painful.”
