Official reports have confirmed that on Thursday, health authorities will be closing down the Swine Flu phone line and website, after a rapid decrease in the cases.
Starting Thursday, the National Pandemic Flu Service, which was specifically set up to take care of the widespread outbreak of Swine Flu, will be dropped, after an announcement by the Department of Health that the disease has hit its lowest level since the outbreak of the virus.
However, as shared by the DoH, there are still about 124 patients being treated in hospitals, with 29 of them in a critical condition.
"As is the case across the country, we have seen a huge decline in the number of people requesting antiviral medication via the NPFS. We are closely monitoring the situation and made appropriate arrangements for this transition", said Dr. Karthik Paranthaman, Acting Consultant in Public Health at NHS Buckinghamshire.
