It has been recently revealed that Oxytocin, the "so-called" love hormone, might just help promote the development of social skills and social behavior in people who are suffering from high-functioning autism.
As has been discovered by a new study, people suffering from high-functioning autism disorders, like Asperger's syndrome. who were treated with the aforementioned hormone, tended to respond more strongly to others and managed to display more appropriate social behaviors.
Inspite of possessing high intellectual capabilities, people who have high-functioning autism lack the social skills needed to engage aptly with others in social situations.
For the sake of study, researchers analyzed the effect of inhaled Oxytocin on social effects in 13 youngsters with autism, and the results obtained led to the conclusion.
Details of the research have been published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
