A new study has flashed serious concerns among the parents bearing kids who suffer from both asthma along with peanut allergy. It has raised an alert requiring more watchful attitude among the parents to keep their child’s asthma under control.
The medical research conducted comprised of 160 children of American nationality falling in the age group of 5 to 8. The researchers opted for the technique of Poisson regression model. This technique was useful enough to give apt results by comparing the number of steroid dosage and hospital visits for asthma among the children suffering with asthma without or with peanut allergy.
The analysis revealed that out of the 160 children, 46 having the peanut allergies had to visit hospitals more for asthma treatment in comparison to their counterparts having no peanut allergies. In order to control severe asthma signs, the dosage for anti-inflammatory drugs was more than expected. Another set of data related to the oral steroids was relieved by the study, it concluded that 28 percent of kids underwent the oral steroids treatment after the age of 3 and the kids without food allergy accounted for 37 percent. When the researchers treated other factors causing asthma, peanut allergy topped the list.
So far the relationship between peanut allergy and asthma has not been clarified but the study would definitely be useful for the medical science.
