Cisco Systems Inc

A memorandum of understanding has been signed by Cisco Systems Inc. with a private venture CSC e-Governance Services India Ltd on Friday. It is done in order to implement a variety of e-governance plans in the country.

The main aim of MoU is to make education and health care solutions readily available and to support through CSCs spread across India.

Shankar Aggarwal, CEO, CSC e-Governance Services India Ltd. and Naresh Wadhwa, President and Country Manager, Cisco India signed the memorandum of understanding in the presence of S. R. Rao, Additional Secretary, Department of Information Technology; John Chambers, Chairman and CEO, Cisco; R. Chandrashekhar, Secretary, Department of Information Technology, Government of India and Wim Elfrink, Chief Globalisation Officer and Executive Vice President, Cisco Services.

CSC program is the foundation stone of the government of India's National e-Governance Plan (NeGP). About 250,000 CSCs have been planned across 600,000 villages. Due to this, Web-enabled e-governance services are offered in rural areas and basic amenities like education, health and entertainment are reached to these far-fetched areas.

Cisco has been working with governments and communities throughout the world to materialise its dream for Smart+Connected Communities. If high quality of services reaches the rural areas, then nothing can stop India to do a balanced development.

Cisco® Remote Education Centre an education platform hosted in the cloud which can support 30,000 simultaneous classes will be used for spreading education services.
