Canwest Newspapers Chief Resigns

It is reported that Dennis Skulsky, the president of Canwest Global Communications Corp.'s newspaper and publishing division, which owns The Gazette, resigned yesterday.

The longtime print executive posted that the decision to leave the Winnipeg-based company is entirely his own as he wanted to be with his family.

Much of his family is revealed to be residing in B. C.

He has been working from Toronto since 2006. He became the chief executive at Canwest Ltd. Partnership in May 2006. Prior to that, he spent six years as president and publisher of Canwest's Pacific Newspaper Group, which operates The Vancouver Sun and the Province.

However, Skulsky declined to appear for an interview.

Skulsky will be a part of Canwest LP until the end of April, and will remain an adviser to the company until the end of August.

Skulsky declined to comment on any possible future job prospects in B. C via an e-mail on Friday, revealing that he intends to entirely concentrate on his role at Canwest until the end of April.
