While major telecoms like Vodafone and Orcon are halting their nationwide local loop unbundling, CallPlus is actually taking the initial steps to service consumers directly over copper and that too in Hamilton.
General Manager of CallPlus, Mark Callander has shared that the Telco and ISP is developing its very own LLU network across Hamilton, which is to launch in April and will cover six out of the total eight exchanges in Hamilton.
Once the rollout across Hamilton has been taken care of, CallPlus will continue to undertake the build in other selected regions like Wellington, Christchurch and other smaller areas throughout New Zealand.
No specific timeline has, however, been given about the LLU rollout in Hamilton and other areas.
CallPlus is completely banking on its Telco experience for the Hamilton LLU program, and will introduce to customers bundled packages, which would offer both voice and broadband, starting at mere $65 for landline and access to the Internet.
Mr. Callander has claimed that this will be the cheapest plan on the market”.
