Older Breast Cancer Patients Should be Treated Equally, Urges MP Mr. Wilson

In order to assure equal treatment for the aged females suffering from breast cancer, the campaign launched by the Breakthrough Breast Cancer for the same was supported by MP Rob Wilson. The Every Chance campaign, launched by the charity, was backed by Mr. Wilson.

Through this campaign it is being voiced that the treatment for breast should be recommended by keeping in account the clinical need of the patients, not the age. It has been known that females above 70 are not called for routine check up and screening of the disease.

The research, which was funded by Breakthrough, suggested that older patients do not have proper access to advanced treatments by radiotherapy, chemotherapy and surgery. After being informed about the older patients missing on apt treatment, Mr. Wilson committed the equality will be practiced within the NHS.

The research concluded that patients receiving surgery at 80 years of age was 40 times lesser than younger ones and that fewer chances of receiving standard treatments prevailed in older breast cancer patients. It was also found that risk of the disease elevates with increase in age and one third of females having breast cancer were more than 70 of age.

"Anyone who feels they did not receive full access to treatment because of their age should get in touch with me and I'll share your experiences with the charity", assured Mr. Wilson.
