Tech Maniacs to Shun Gadgets on March 27 for Charity

The tech addicts around the globe are being asked by the Development Charity Practical Action to give up their gadgets for 24 hours, on March 27.

Charity Practical Action is intended to make people aware of the technology-poor developing world and to ponder that the citizens of the developed countries should feel fortunate that they have these facilities at their disposal. There are people in the world dying due to scarcity of decent food and clean water.

The campaign is asking the participants to give up not only their mobile phone, Internet connection and computer, but also electronic devices like TVs, MP3 players, sat navs, games consoles, DVDs, video cameras and even radio.

The charity emphasizes that people should cease using only luxury technology.

The charity said, "Use common sense - the idea is to give people a taste of what life in the technology-poor developing world is like, but not to cause yourself serious harm. If you need tech for medical reasons or for the safety of you or others, then use it".
