Kurt Cobain's smashed guitar is sold for 100,000 dollars

New York - A smashed guitar of former Nirvana front man Kurt Cobain has been sold for 100,000 dollars to an unnamed collector, the Seattle Times newspaper reported Thursday.

Cobain smashed the Fender Mustang guitar in New Jersey during his first US tour with the band. Punk rocker Sluggo later exchanged a new guitar for the smashed instrument, which he has just put on sale.

The "really cool looking guitar" had been patched up with tape, according to Jacob McMurray, curator of a music museum in Seattle, the Washington state home city of Nirvana where the guitar had been on show, and where Cobain took his own life in 1994. (dpa)
