Chocolate Is Good for Your Health

Studies show that eating a bar of chocolate everyday is good for your health. It reduces the risk of strokes and heart attacks by 39%.

Research was done on 19,000 people in eight years. It was seen that eating of higher quantity of chocolate reduced risk of cancer and heart stroke.

It should be kept in mind that excessive eating of chocolate is bad too. It has got heaps of fat and calories. Too much consumption of fat and calories leads to obesity, heart disease and stroke. The research was conducted by Dr. Brian Buijsse and colleagues of the German Institute of Human Nutrition.

This research was based on a cohort study designed to examine the link between eating chocolate and development of high blood pressure stroke and heart disease. It was good way to analyze whether a risk factor is linked to an outcome across an extended period of follow up.

If compounds in chocolates seem to reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases then these compounds should be extracted from it and they should be tested against a placebo in randomized controlled traits.

The relationship between chocolate intake and cardiovascular outcome was analyzed by the researchers which included factors like energy intake, age, gender, alcohol intake, employment status, BMI, waist circumference, smoking, physical activity education, diabetes, and intake of fruit, vegetables, red meat, processed meat, dairy, coffee, tea and cereal fiber.
