A new research can prove offensive to Muslims, as it has been found that cigarettes possibly contain traces of pig-blood in the filters.
This was stated by The Australian on Tuesday that a new study is based on the Pig 05049 book that written by Christien Meindertsma. Referring to the book, Simon Chapman, a Professor in University of Sydney revealed that the book contained 185 industrial uses of a pig. The book reveals that hemoglobin of pigs might be used in cigarette filters.
This will be very offensive for Muslims and Jews, who strictly ban using pork or any pig products and also the pure vegetarians who do not have any of the animal products.
The reports have revealed that pig blood has a strong capacity of filtering and trapping the harmful smoke before it enters the smoker’s lungs.
However, Chapman said that it cannot be known which brands used the product for filtering as tobacco companies if forced to disclose the contents in their products, refuse by saying that this was the “that's our business and a trade secret".
The Indonesian Consumer Protection Foundation (YLKI) has requested called the Ministry of Health, the Indonesian Ulema Council’s Food and Drug Analysis Agency (LPPOM) and National Food and Drug Monitoring Agency
(BPOM) to investigate by sampling testing if the claims prove to be true.
