Target practice for snipers has become more fun and a lot more helpful for the sinpers in Australia as they get to practice with Segway robots, by shooting at them actually. This venture was taken up with the help of the Marathon Robotics by setting up a course which is full of plastic, human - size dummies and also 3D robots from Segway.
The robots are all programmed to wander aimlessly around a village and the fact that they lean forward to go faster and backward to curtail the movement, makes it quite difficult to get a mark and actually hit it.
When any one of them is actually hit by a sniper, then a visual feedback is provided instantly and that causes the robots to scatter automatically. The remaining robots run for cover immediately and scatter as soon as one of them is taken off the scene. It was also reported that it could run for hours, regardless of the time of day or the weather.
A simple example would be a video game, making the whole exercise seem like a real - life video game which is quite clever.
