Launching God of War III Boosts Sony Play Station 3 Sales

As per the market research done by NPD Group Inc., Sony Corp.’s sales of PlayStation 3 video game jumped up by 44% in the U. S. in March, which was helped by the launch of the God of War III title.

Sales of the PS3 grew for the eighth month directly, which saw a rise of 44% to 313,900 units from a year prior to this one.

Nintendo Co.’s Wii was the top-selling console even after its sales plummeted by 7.2% to 557,500 units, whereas Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360 sales saw a rise of 2.5% to 338,400.

Sony, which loses money on every PS3 it sells, is aiming to make the games unit cost-effective in the financial year which started on April 1, and had been helped by the launch of its Move motion-sensing organizer and 3-D gaming.

The new hardware may help the firm to expand the PS3’s lifespan and lower Nintendo Wii’s lead by becoming more alluring to casual gamers.

A Tokyo- based evaluator at Mitsubishi UFJ stated that amalgamation of movement controller and games played in 3-D has a lot of potential.
