Apple iPhones May Soon Be Capable of Examining Medical Scans

A Calgary researcher has been able to find something real amazing. According to his new creation, medical doctors across Canada may soon be able to use Apple iPhones for examining diagnostic scans of their patients.

Dr. Ross Mitchell, a University of Calgary Medical Biophysicist, was able to create the specific iPhone application, which received a formal approval last week from Health Canada that can be used as an analytical tool.

Mitchell's medical image viewing system is designed in such a way so that physicians are able to see images of scans in order to help make a diagnosis from anywhere they are using an iPhone.

Mitchell, whose firm, Calgary Scientific Inc., which owns the software under the trademark ResMD said that there is a strong belief that it is not sufficient for them to see their work printed in an academic periodical. They really desire to see it translated to clinical impact.

University of Calgary Professor, Dr. Jay Easaw stated that this new technology is pretty thrilling.

Mitchell thinks that for the time being the technology is best suited for carrying out diagnoses of brain diseases such as cancer and stroke.
