Richard Walker Sault born two days before Christmas, at Saddleback Memorial Hospital in Laguna Hills, had to be delivered via C-section as he weighed 14lbs. 2-oz., just one of the biggest babies to be born in Orange County. It took two doctors to lift him out, during the operation.
Marty Wright, Department Manager of Labour & Delivery at St. Joseph Hospital, Orange, has delivered 102,000-babies during her 21-years at the hospital, and even she couldn't help but exclaim: 'What a big baby!' Richard may be a big baby, but, there have been bigger babies than Richard. Last year, a 16-lbs. Russian baby made headlines, while in 2005 a Brazilian baby entered the world weighing in at 17-lbs.
Nonetheless, Richard's size surprised his parents, even though he has an older sister, who weighed more than 10-lbs. at birth and walked at 10-months. Joking, his father says he half expected baby Richard to get up and walk out of the hospital.
