Rocker Hopes to Cure Cancer with Meditation
Adam Yauch

An innovative way to treat cancer is being practiced by Adam Yauch, member of the Beastie Boys band. He maintains that meditation can help kill cancer and has also invited fans to join him in his efforts. He was diagnosed with cancer in salivary glands last July.

Adam underwent surgery and radically altered his lifestyle after the illness. He not only switched to a vegetarian diet but also travelled to India to attend a spiritual seminar by the Dalai Lama, the famous spiritual leader of Buddhists.

Many celebrities have joined him in his efforts and Yoko Ono is one of them. Adam told in an e-mail to his friends that he is meditating along with friends two times a day for about one and a half hour every day.

He also mentioned that he is feeling much better and healthier than before. He also stressed that when he meditates along with friends, he visualizes a world without cancer and illness. All of them also pray for universal happiness and peace.

Adam also mentions that anyone willing to try out meditation can try it at the International Buddhist Meditation Center and Against the Stream in Los Angeles.

Adam has been a practitioner of Buddhism since the early 90s. In the meantime, Beastie Boys expect to launch their upcoming album Hot Sauce Committee Part I by coming September.
