Dane Cook’s manager arrested for embezzling millions

On Tuesday, Massachusetts State Police arrested Darryl McCauley - the longtime business manager of Dane Cook - in a case of embezzlement of millions of dollars of the famous comedian. He managed Cook's financial affairs from the early 1990s till this month.

The without incident arrest of McCauley came after two weeks of investigations by the Attorney General Martha Coakley's office.

According to allegations, during the period July 2007 to December 2008, McCauley stole millions of dollars from his client Cook, the Arlington-raised entertainer. He transferred the money from his Cook's account into his own personal account, without permission. So much so that, in a particular instance, McCauley forged check worth $3 million, which he wrote from his client's account to himself.

Whether Cook is related to McCauley has not been confirmed - in an interview about two years back, Cook had mentioned that he has an older brother by the name Darryl McCauley! In fact, going by one of the published reports, Darryl McCauley was also listed as Cook's brother and the best man in Cook's recent wedding.

The 43-year-old Darryl McCauley, who belongs to Wilmington, Massachusetts, is to appear in Woburn District Court on Wednesday. A news release from the Attorney General's office has said that McCauley would be arraigned with two counts of larceny of over $250, and forgery and larceny by continuous scheme.
