Recently, we have known, that WellPoint has been accused of having targeted patients diagnosed with breast cancer, so that it could evade from bearing the cost of expenses that would be charged for the treatment purposes of these patients.
WellPoint used software that automatically struck at cancer patients who had found about the bad news in the recent times. However, WellPoint in the meanwhile searched for excuses to drop the coverage.
WellPoint has its own excuses. One, that is almost logical, is that, they mechanically scan claims for pre-existing circumstances that patients would probably have known about at the time of applying for insurance, but maintained that it does not distinguish women with breast cancer.
This is almost sensible, until the time you think about it carefully, and realize that they're confessing to have vigorously searched for reasons to refute insurance coverage to women who are suffering from breast cancer, and that their other justification is that they do the similar thing for everybody on their plan who comes down with a rare ailment.
It is quite clear that a company always looks and searches for prospects in order to rake in the maximum amount of money from its customers.
This is rather paradoxical, because a health company not providing the benefits of health insurance coverage seems to be something that is not very appreciable.
In its defense, WellPoint has published a lengthy counterargument. They have clearly stated that they have clients who have had detections and their prevention programs are in place.
Circumstances like these for patients with a rare kind of disease, tend to lose all their faith even in the last option that they are left with , since, getting oneself treated for ailments such as cancer need a powerful financial backing so that whenever money is needed, it is right there, available to them.
