New Study Establishes: Social Media an Addiction for Students
24 Hours: Unplugged

A new study has established that a majority of students cannot do without social media links such as laptops, mobile phones, etc.

This new study has been titled “24 Hours: Unplugged”, which asked 200 students from the College Park campus to completely avoid all sources of media for a day’s time.

They had been asked to submit their experiences in writing the subsequent day. Those 200 students submitted their responses in writing that accounted to be more than 110,000 words, the same number of words as a novel with 400 pages would have.

The study Director, Susan D. Moeller, a Journalism Professor at the University of Maryland said that she and her associates were amazed to see that how many students confessed to have been addicted to social media.

The students wrote that they hated to go around places, without the means with which they could get in touch with their loved ones.

They also asserted by saying that it would be too boring to go without their gadgets, because it will not let them listen to their favorite songs, text messages, play games, send e-mail and a lot of other stuff that they can do because of the availability of social media.
