Cigarettes

It was reported by Qatar News Agency that the Department of Health and the Tobacco Control Collaborating Centre had done a study on shisha. It was found that shisha or herbal tobacco had high amount of carbon monoxide.

It was also seen that inhaling of high levels of carbon monoxide can damage the brain and make the person unconscious.

In shisha, the fruit scented tobacco is first burnt using coal and the smoke is passed through a water vessel. The smoke in the vessel is then inhaled from the hose.

It was noticed from the researches that one session of smoking Shisha could increase the carbon monoxide levels four to five times compared to the amount generated by one cigarette.

It was told Dr. Hilary Wareing, Director of the Tobacco Control Collaborating Centre that the results retrieved from the researches were astonishing for her.

It was told by the researches that in India, Shisha was also known as hooka. Nowadays shisha comes in a shape of flavored Hookha or herbal hookah and is more dangerous than a normal cigarette.

"Our mouths opened at the level of harm - none of the tests we did showed anything other than shisha is hazardous to health”, Dr Hilary Wareing, said Director of the Tobacco Control Collaborating Centre.
