New group to promote Children’s Mental Health Awareness

Mule Town Family Network, a local group, has been formed to plan and execute a series of activities across the nation to promote National Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day on May 6.

Its aim: highlighting the case of children and youth with mental health needs and raising awareness that their families can thrive if they are provided with the required services and support in their communities. Besides, the network would be promoting positive youth development, prevention, recovery and resilience for children and youth with serious emotional disturbances and their families.

On May 6, members of the Mule Town Family Network will partner with numerous local and state agencies to raise awareness by wearing green “I Choose to Care” stickers and green ribbons.

In a similar event last year, over 2,000 people echoed the importance of providing mental health services for children and youth and their families by wearing a sticker and sharing their stories with others. The goal this year, however, is to more than double that amount.
