On Thursday, over 250 U. S. scientists shielded climate change research against "political assaults" and cautioned that any holdup in dealing with global warming intensifies the risk of a world disaster.
The scientists, all members of the U. S. National Academy of Sciences, aimed critics who have advised delaying any action against weather change owing to supposed problems with research revealed in a succession of hacked e-mails, which are jointly called "climate-gate".
The 255 scientists wrote in an open letter in the journal Science that when someone says that society should wait until scientists are completely sure before taking any step, it is similar to saying that society should never take a move.
They wrote, “For a problem as potentially catastrophic as climate change, taking no action poses a dangerous risk for our planet”.
The scientists said that they were extremely distressed by recent acceleration of political attacks on scientists in common and on climate scientists in specific.
On Thursday, Scientists hummed a similar message before the U. S. House of Representatives jury on energy independence and weather change.
James Hurrell of the U. S. National Center for Atmospheric Research told the committee, "The reality of anthropogenic climate change can no longer be debated on scientific grounds".
