Actor John Travolta and wife Kelly Preston's memorial service in honor of their son Jett, 16, was held at their central Florida home, attended by friends and family.
Dozens of reporters and photographers gathered outside, while catering trucks and florists entered the complex where the Travolas' live. A few curious locals stopped to watch, while some handed bouquets of flowers to the guards at the main gate. Saddle Rock café, where Travolta often stops for a western omelet, put up a sign that read: 'Condolences to John and Kelly'.
The service for Jett strictly adhered to the tenets of Scientology, celebrating the teenager's life, as scientologists believe a person is an immortal spiritual being, and the spirit is born again in a different human body.
Earlier Thursday, Tom Cruise, a friend of Travolta and fellow Scientologist termed Jett's death as 'horrific' on ABC's 'The View', and haltingly said: 'John just adored him, both of his children.' '… It's something that I don't have the words for.'
