A once-rising actor, Lillo Brancato Jr. has fallen hard! A Bronx judge sentenced him to 10-years in prison on Friday, for burglary in which his accomplice shot at and killed Daniel Enchautegui, 28, an off-duty police officer.
However, Yolanda Rosa, the sister of the slain police officer believes she and her family have been let down by the judicial system. She would have preferred Brancato get the maximum sentence of 15-years. She also derides Brancato's claim of being clean from drugs and returning to his family on completion of his sentence.
Good behaviour could see Brancato, out of jail and a free man in as little as five years, but he seemed disappointed when the sentence was announced to a packed courtroom.
Brancato, 32, became famous as the impressionable son of a bus driver (Robert De Niro) in 'A Bronx Tale', including a role in hit TV series of 'The Sopranos'. But, that is behind him as he heads for prison, for trying to break into a friend's home to steal prescription drugs, with an equally drunk Steven Armento, 48, when they were interrupted by the off-duty officer and Armento shot and killed him.
Armento, recently convicted for murder, has been sentenced to life in prison without parole. Though, prosecutors also wanted Brancato to be charged for murder for setting up the break-in, the jury acquitting him of murder last month, found him guilty of attempted burglary.
