In a deal finalized between Amazon.com and Facebook Inc., the former will provide a special page to its site, which will recommend the users to purchase products for their friends as per their choices and tastes of their friends.
The data on the interests of the users will be picked up from the Facebook accounts.
The choices information will also include the music and video collections of the users’ interest. In addition, the unified service will also enlist the upcoming birthdays of friends and recommendations of suitable gifts for them.
A Spokesperson from Amazon said that the service has been introduced in order to enhance the shopping experience for the Amazon users by involving their favorite social networking site i.e., Facebook.
The current deal between Amazon and Facebook is likely to give a blow to Google’s e-commerce service pool.
The pay-per-click service of Google in the purchase of refrigerators, TVs and books, generates more than $1 per click for Google.
Now, while posting any information, the Facebook users will automatically get connected to the Companies from where their friends regularly shop.
“The effort was about pulling customers’ likes and interests from their profiles to generate personalized recommendations. Beyond that, we don’t have anything else to add”, said Amazon’s Spokesperson.
