Dell is planning to buy 3PAR, which is a leading global provider of high-end data storage. Dell thinks that by acquiring 3PAR, it will be able to compete with other big organizations like HP in the cloud computing market.
It is apposite to note that Hewlett-Packard is also bidding for 3PAR. Dell believes that in case HP manages to acquire the utility storage Company, its business will not get affected in any way.
After hearing the news that 3PAR has accepted the Dell’s bid of $27 a share, HP also increased its bid amount to $30 a share, that is $2 billion. But 3PAR didn’t accept the offer made by HP.
It is worth mentioning that by using 3PAR’s new ‘cloud computing’ technology, the computer users will be able to access data and software on the Internet. This will also save a lot of money for the Companies.
When a Dell officer, Mr. Asthana, was asked why the Company is investing huge money in 3PAR, he said high-end utility storage is an upcoming business, and at present 3PAR is the best Company to provide this service for those organizations who want to consolidate and virtualize their data centers in order to showcase IT as a utility.
