'Dirty Dancing' star, actor Patrick Swayze, 56, who was hospitalised for pneumonia, hours before he was scheduled to appear at a gathering of television critics to promote 'The Beast', his new TV crime drama in which he plays the role of a rogue FBI undercover agent, has now been released from hospital. Now at home, he is resting with wife, Lisa, 52, no further details are available.
Diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last year, in an interview broadcast last January, Swayze told Barbara Walters, he was 'going through hell', and denying reports that he was close to death, he said he might have only two years to live.
According to The American Cancer Society says only 5% of pancreatic cancer patients have a five-year survival rate, with a majority of patients dying within six months.
Swayze, famous the world over for 1987's coming-of-age movie 'Dirty Dancing', inspired many hit stage shows in London, Australia and Canada, and also proved immensely popular in the 1990 supernatural romance 'Ghost', co-starring Demi Moore.
