Sun Pharmaceutical buys US-based Chattem Chemicals

Indian pharmaceutical major Sun Pharmaceutical has informed that it has acquired US-based drug ingredients manufacturer Chattem Chemicals for undisclosed amount.
The company has bought Chattem Chemicals from Elcat Inc. through its American subsidiary.
Chattem is registered with the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) as a narcotic raw material importer and manufactures a variety of active pharmaceutical ingredients.
The firm has estimated sales of $26 million in the year to June 2008. However, the financial details of the transaction were kept undisclosed.
The acquisition is subject to clearance from regulatory authorities.
This is Sun Pharma's third acquisition in the US.
