Release dates of Pikmin, Mario Tennis Wii confirmed

Release dates of Pikmin, Mario Tennis Wii confirmedAfter having broken hardware and software sales records globally, while the economy grappled with recession, Nintendo now confirms its scheduled dates for the release of Pikmin and Mario Power Tennis on Wii. While the former will be out on February 6, the latter will be released a month thereafter – March 6.

Both the games are a part of Nintendo’s “New Play Control” range, wherein GameCube classics are ported to Wii with fresh gearshifts to take benefit of the Remote and Nunchuk.

The new pointer control in Pikmin would allow the player to order around their little helpers much more easily; and the Mario Power Tennis will have the Wii Sports Tennis-style racquet swinging action.

That’s not all from Wii yet! The console that flew off the shelves in 2008, and sold a record 10-million consoles in the US, has Pikmin 2 and Donkey Kong Jungle Beat lined up next on the Wii Treatment list.

Mario Kart Wii and Super Smash Bros were two of the most popular games for Wii in 2008, alongside the family-friendly Wii Fit. Moreover, the timeless title of the God-awful Wii Music would likely become Nintendo’s multi-million seller in the coming years.

As regards the best selling game of all-time, Nintendo broke its own world record – the packing of Wii Sports with Wii consoles helped Nintendo see its flagship title outdoing the sales of Super Mario Bros! (Additional reporting by Rupinder Kaur)
