'I am … Sasha Fierce' R&B star Beyonce Knowles' third straight debut album topped the US pop album charts, shifting 482,000 copies in just one week. Her third chart topper following 2003 solo debut album - 'Dangerously in Love' (317,000), and 2006's 'B-Day' (541,000), the former Destiny's Child lead singer also has a No. 1 single 'If I Were a Boy' in the US.
In a week of seven Top 20 debuts on Billboard 200, Canadian rock outfit - Nickelback, whose 2005 previous album 'All the Right Reasons' stayed an amazing 156-weeks on the charts, saw their 'Dark Horse' start out at No. 2, selling 326,000 copies, while 'American Idol' David Cook debuted at No. 3 with 280,000. 'Fearless' country singer - Taylor Swift, last week's No. 1 slipped to No. 4, with multi-national vocal group Il Divo's 'The Promise' new at No. 5, which debuted at No. 1 in five countries, including UK. Soundtrack to hit film 'Twilight' slid down to No. 6, 'Now 29' compilation dropped to No. 7, while 'High School Musical 3' fell to No. 8 and Enya's 'And Winter Came' moved to No. 9. Rounding off the Top Ten was AC/DC's 'Black Ice' down from No. 6.
The week's other debuts include Dido's 'Safe Trip Home' at No. 13 and the Zac Brown Band's 'The Foundation' at No. 17, Mudvayne's 'New Game' (No. 15), 'Cities 97 Sampler Vol. 20', a Minneapolis radio station's collection of in-studio performances, Slim's 'Love's Crazy' (No. 32), Blake Shelton's 'Startin' Fires' (No. 34), DJ Khaled's 'Ace Hood Gutta' (No. 36).
Guns N' Roses' 'Chinese Democracy' weekend release, is not included in the week's sale tally.
