Panasonic introduces two digital cameras with face-recognition technology

You will now have cameras with face recognition features. Yes, Panasonic on Tuesday released two digital cameras with face-recognition technology, which makes the cameras register a face that is recorded several times, and once a face is registered, the cameras can automatically prioritize focus and exposure in future pictures.

The Lumix DMC-FX580 and the Lumix DMC-ZS3 are the two cameras with face-recognition technology. The two cameras can take still photographs, but can also record high-definition videos. The cameras are equipped with outputs for playback directly to a digital television, but the DMW-HDC2 component cable is sold separately.

Featuring a 3-inch touch screen for controlling the camera's operation, the Lumix DMC-FX580 camera is equipped with a 25mm ultra-wide-angle Leica DC lens, a 5x optical zoom, and a larger image recording size of 12.1 megapixels. The beautiful camera with aluminum body will be available in silver and black.

The Lumix DMC-ZS3 is a compact camera, with an image-recording size of 10.1 megapixels. It is also equipped with a 25mm ultra-wide-angle Leica DC lens. The camera will be available in silver, black, blue, and red colors.

Face-recognition capability is the unique feature of the two cameras. The face-recognition feature allows a user give priority to a single person in a picture. The cameras ask user whether they should register the face that is recorded a number of times. If a face is registered, the cameras can automatically prioritize focus and exposure in future pictures. The devices can pronounce the registered face, and feature it more sharply and brightly than other subjects. Feature called "category playback" lets the users choose to display only pictures that have registered face in them.

If you are looking to buy the cameras, you will have to wait till April. The cameras will be available in April for a suggested retail price of $400.
