Pregnant women who utilize botox for anti wrinkle treatment have been warned as the treatment can cause birth defect in the developing fetus.
The warning follows a report in which it has been established that a child born deaf and blind had suffered due to the mother's use of an anti-wrinkle treatment during pregnancy.
The Cosmetic Physicians Society of Australasia (CPSA) has urged its members to stick to national guidelines for the use of Botox as prescription of Botox during pregnancy is prohibited.
"Botulinum toxin has a long history of efficacy and a robust safety profile, however there are some circumstances, such as during pregnancy, breastfeeding, glaucoma and neuromuscular disease where it is not an appropriate medication."
However, after detailed analysis obtained through Freedom of Information laws it was found that the pregnant woman was not given Botox but a rival botulinum type A toxin drug called Dysport.

Great job putting this together! I recently ran into The Patients Advantage when looking for Botox specialists. It's a great way to find the best surgeons and it does not cost a dime.
