Treatment for Hair Loss Could Be Available In 5 Years

German scientists have claimed to develop hair follicles from stem cells, which would help people getting rid of their baldness.

The discovery has been made for the first time by the scientists from Technical University in Berlin. The scientists have created hair follicles by using stem cells from animals, but they are certain that in a time frame of a year, they would create human hair follicles from human stem cells.

The recent research showed that there would be treatment for 80% of the people across the globe who are suffering from the problem of hair loss, as stated by lead scientist Prof Roland Lauster. He added that the implantation of hair follicles, a treatment which would be available in five years.

Earlier, a team from the University of Pennsylvania in the US in 2004 also generated results that stem cells can be employed as treatment for baldness, but currently there is no remedy for the same.

Stem cells on getting treatment in the laboratory can be developed into any tissue in the human body

Lauster told that they had started the arrangements for the further research, adding to this, he expressed that the formation of skin and hair follicles in a lab could also nullify the need for examining cosmetic products on animals.
