Federal Prosecutors observing relatives of Madoff

Prosecutors are still seeking to allege Bernard Madoff's wife, Ruth, and other relatives, as per court papers that got filed yesterday by the Ponzi king's former director of operations.

Daniel Bonventre, aged sixty four who had supposedly helped cook his books, claimed that he and other ex-employees were being pressurized to help build a case against . . . the people closest to Mr. Madoff and the main benefactors.

The Manhattan federal court filing figures out that the feds' targets are the friends who have invested extraordinary sums as well as family members.

Yesterday, an ex-Madoff back office worker named Annette Bongiorno; aged sixty two stated that she should be out from jail because prosecutors have begun confiscating the money that she reaped supposedly from the sixty five billion dollar scheme.

She is at present locked up in an Oklahoma prisoner-transfer center, but still her TD Bank accounts, her husband Rudy's E-Trade accounts and their joint Chase savings account have all been confiscated as reported by her lawyers.

The former operations chief working for Bernard Madoff, Daniel Bonventre, requested one U. S. judge to dismiss criminal charges brought against him after prosecutors began confiscating assets including money that he had set aside to pay his lawyer.

Bonventre is among five former Madoff aides who are faced with federal charges for helping their boss run a Ponzi scheme worth multibillion-dollar. In a court filing that was done yesterday, Bonventre had asked a judge to dismiss the case against him because prosecutors began interfering with his constitutional right to counsel by confiscating assets. The seizure happened after four requests made to him that he cooperate in the U. S. probe.
