Sony working on Finger-Based ID Technology
Submitted by Amandeep Dhaliwal on Tue, 02/03/2009 - 17:20
A technology is being developed by Technology major Sony, which would bring in use the veins in a person's finger to authenticate him/her.
The name of this technology is mofiria and if adhered to Sony, this technology is supposed to be highly precise and will allow users to check in to their PC or mobile device.
This technology would be really accurate, as no two persons have same finger vein pattern.
To be more precise, the sensor takes the image of your finger, prepares the layout of the finger, then compresses the data so it can reside on a mobile device and an algorithm authenticates you. In the fiscal 2009, this technology may be embedded by the company in mobile devices and security systems.
