The Federal Government is taking a move to help people quit smoking through their innovative methods. The cigarette packages are now going to carry larger health warning messages and a toll-free number to counsel anyone who needs a help.

Apart from these, new diseases and testimonials from people affected by tobacco will also be added on the packages eventually.

These packages are going to be a part of a social marketing campaign as part of the latest methods adopted by the Federal Government to tackle tobacco addiction.

As the Minister for Health, Leona Aglukkaq says, "The combination of larger health warning messages and social marketing will help the new messages reach as many smokers as possible."

The comprehensive strategy will ensure Canada to retain the position as a world leader in tobacco control drives. The warnings will have coverage of 75% of the front and back of the package - an increase from previous 50%.

It is believed to be a real innovative effort to keep Canada at the forefront in the international effort to fight tobacco smoking.

Mr. Irfhan Rawji, Chair of the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, believes that now Canadians will have more reasons to quit smoking and get more inspired to the social cause.
