Employers to be trained to recognize early symptoms of dementia

Around 700,000 people in Britain suffer from the degenerative brain condition with the number expected to double over the next 30 years.

According to national dementia strategy, launched this week employers will help government in its fight against degenerative conditions such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's.

Under new strategy around £150 million will be spent on various proposals aimed at providing care and early treatment to dementia patients. Some of these proposals are like training GPs to handle dementia and opening memory clinics.

Strategy report says, "Such a campaign could also target the personnel/human resources and occupational health departments of employers so that they are aware of the early signs of dementia".
