It appears that Acer is considering switching over to Nvidia. The world’s third largest supplier of PCs, Acer is looking forward for Nvidia Ion solution; that’s what Acer's vice president of product marketing, Sumit Agnihotry signaled in an interview last week, when he openly expressed interest towards Nvidia Ion platform.
In an interview with Laptomag.com web-site, Agnihotry stated that his company would be "taking a look" at Nvidia's Ion solution in the second half of the current year. He said, “We always work with all partners and look at their solutions.”
Commenting on Nvidia solution, Agnihotry said, "On the Nvidia solution, the benefits are great, including the ability to play back high-def content. You will see us looking at this technology much closer in our second-half products."
Agnihotry did not clearly express whether Acer is planning for partnership with Nvidia for future netbook products, but the statement did clearly indicate that it could consider moving away from the Intel Atom that is regarded as standard processor for netbooks.
However, Agnihotry said, “Our partnership with Intel has been from the beginning and we initiated this segment together so we will continue to be a strategic partner with them on the netbook.”
