In a "strategically significant" venture capital funding case, the Los Angeles-based private equity firm Baroda Ventures LLC has provided OVGuide. com with $5 million.
The all-embracing Internet portal for online video discovery and search, OVGuide appears to be well-positioned to don the leader's cap in its respective industry - it has already reported January as its first operational month as a profitable unit. The month saw OVGuide. com receive in visitors in excess of 12 million, with 36 million searches and 150 million page views!
OVGuide. com sorts out online video content and its expert editors' recommendations make the entire process of online video search well-organized and swift. Whatever the search term, the search engine delivers the most appropriate source of video destination - which includes numerous online video sites like Fancast, South Park Studios, ESPN, theWB. com, and Hulu.
The company intends spending the recent funding - coming at a time when its competitors are wrestling their way amid recession - for developing engineering assets to further the expansion of its dominant online video search.
Regarding the search engine and the recent funding, the company's founder, Dale Bock, said: "OVGuide. com has a highly talented team developing a great product, a large user base and growing revenue stream. We will use the funds strategically to continue development of our product and maintain our leadership position in online video search and discovery."
