A new project aimed at lifestyle diseases in children, adolescents and adults, was launched by Emcure Pharmaceuticals Ltd and National Diabetes, Obesity and Cholesterol Foundation (N-DOC). The project was named as, Disha. Former cricketer, Dilip Vengsarkar was the Chief Guest at the inaugural function. The project will be headed by N-DOC Chairman, Anoop Mishra. He said that more than 5,00,000 schoolchildren above the age of 10 will be educated about these diseases.

Education programs prepared with the help of 50 diabetologists would be organized to spread awareness about diabetes and obesity. Besides schoolchildren, 2,00,000 adults and paramedical workers will also be educated about the diseases.

The project focuses on increasing awareness about diabetes and obesity among children, adolescents and adults across 50 cities in India. With the help of this project the experts would be able to reach out to schoolchildren, parents and teachers of various cities.

The N-DOC’s Managing Director, CEO and Founder Member, Satish Mehta said that unhealthy lifestyle and food habits in India are responsible for the increasing number of the diabetic patients. The new project will help in changing the lifestyle and nutritional habits of people.
