It’s surprising fact that Apple's iPhone handled 66.61 percent of mobile web traffic last month; the fact has been revealed by a recent study on the “web market share for cellphones”.
The February data of Net Applications shows that iPhone operating system had nine times more mobile web traffic than its next smartphone competitor, Windows Mobile that just had 6.91 percent of the mobile web traffic, which was measured across tens of thousands of sites.
According to the study, Google's Android and Symbian were tied for having 6.15 percent mobile web traffic, while Research in Motion's email-centric BlackBerry OS had 2.24 percent, and PalmOS devices had 2.37 percent of mobile web traffic last month.
Net Applications’ data supports the AdMob findings that showed that the iPhone was getting half of all US smartphone traffic and a third of smartphone use worldwide during the month before.
According to the Net Applications’ data, Windows OS, however, was leading among the desktop-class operating systems; Windows OS represented 88.42 percent of web traffic, while Mac OS X represented 9.61 percent web traffic in February.
